Company’s Challenge
The main challenge is to organize the tactical and operational replenishment planning for stores by optimizing in synergy the selection of priority orders, the evaluation of order volumes, the truck loading plan, and the transportation plan.
This requires:
- Designing a planning for volume deliveries with a selection of priority order lines;
- Consolidating and optimizing flows by assigning operations to vehicles and selecting the shipping day for each order line;
- Planning replenishment routes by respecting delivery priorities, vehicle capacities (volume and weight), and delivery time windows — all while accounting for the capacity constraints of each warehouse (limited preparation volume) and each store (limited delivery quantities);
- Designing a truck loading plan by optimizing palletization for small parcels and positioning palletized and bulk (oversized) products optimally in vehicles while respecting product stacking restrictions.
Provided Solution
By simultaneously optimizing order line selection, palletization, container loading, and route planning, the tool enabled optimal flow consolidation and excellent filling rates.The company managed to reduce transportation costs and minimize leftovers at docks while significantly improving quality of service.Beyond the functional, economic, and environmental benefits, the company was able to simulate various scenarios for fleet selection, consolidation strategies, and stacking restrictions to assess their impact on performance indicators.
