Company’s challenge

The challenge consists in unlocking the transition to zero-emission vehicles (electric and hydrogen) by implementing a decision-support tool that allow to choose where to locate vehicle recharging stations and how to deploy the fleet of new zero-emission vehicles. It requires to:

  • Create a digital twin using mathematical modeling, leveraging real data provided by transporters and energy suppliers to support decision-making processes;
  • Simulate a phased deployment (Year 1, Year 2, …) of the zero-emission vehicles fleet and charging stations to accomodate these new flows;
  • Optimize the priority allocation of the zero-emission vehicle fleet, while minimizing detours to stations and maximizing the replacement of conventional vehicles.

Solution provided

The decision-support tool addresses the strategic problem of Location Routing using a systemic approach that simulates the operational transportation plan to ensure the best quality and relevance of strategic solutions.

As a genuine decision-making support for the long-term development of new sustainable models, the solution provided benefits to both transporters and energy suppliers, and is designed to accelerate the transition to electric and hydrogen power within road freight transportation in France and Europe.
